FORGED VS CAST IRONS: WHY IT ACTUALLY MATTERS.

Forging a Parks Golf iron head

Walk into any golf shop and you'll see both. Forged irons and cast irons can look almost the same on the rack. The difference is how the head is made, and that changes how it feels every time you make contact.

How a cast iron is made

Casting means melting steel and pouring it into a mold. It's fast and great for mass production, and it lets big brands build complex shapes with lots of cavities and inserts. The trade off is the metal. When molten steel cools in a mold the grain ends up random, and you can get tiny pockets inside the head. That's a big part of why cast irons often feel harder and sound clickier.

How a forged iron is made

A forged head starts as one solid billet of carbon steel. It's heated and pressed under huge force into shape, then milled and finished. Pressing the steel tightens and lines up the grain instead of leaving it random. Our irons are forged from S20C carbon steel, then CNC milled for tight tolerances. Forged. Never cast.

What you actually feel

Feel. Softer, more solid at impact. Flushed shots feel like nothing at all.

Feedback. You know exactly where you hit it. Toe, heel, thin. That info is how better players get better.

Sound. A muted thud instead of a sharp click.

Adjustability. Softer carbon steel can be bent for loft and lie, so your clubs can be dialed in to your swing over time.

Who should play forged?

If you strike the ball fairly consistently and care about feel and feedback, forged is the move. Blades like the MB-99 reward a solid strike. A forged cavity back like the CB-44 gives you the same soft feel with a bit more help on mishits, a great fit for a wide range of players.

Why forged irons usually cost more

Forging and milling take more time and more steps than pouring metal into a mold. At Parks we don't cut materials or steps to hit a price. We sell direct, so you get forged irons with the highest quality materials without the retail markup stacked on top.

Try it before you commit
